Does Colorado require a separate reinstatement?
No. The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles told DOTSAP.com that an otherwise eligible driver does not need a separate DACH reinstatement transaction, application, or fee after the state receives the qualifying federal update.
How quickly does Colorado restore the commercial privilege?
Colorado described the update as “instant when received directly from DACH.” That timing begins when Colorado receives the DACH update. It is not a promise that the federal transmission occurs instantly after Step 5, and drivers should confirm valid status before operating a CMV.
Is there a separate Colorado DACH reinstatement fee?

This 24–48-hour window concerns the medical update only—not DACH restoration.

Why is education or treatment separate?
DOT requires the SAP to determine the appropriate education or treatment individually after the initial evaluation. Because the recommendation must be based on the individual’s circumstances, the type, provider, and cost cannot be known in advance. DOT rules also generally require the SAP to remain financially independent from any provider receiving the referral.
Important: A compliant SAP should not promise a predetermined education or treatment requirement before completing the initial evaluation.
