Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a SAP?

Yes, if you operate in a DOT defined safety-sensitive role and you failed or missed a drug or alcohol test, you will need the assistance of a substance abuse professional (SAP) before you will be eligible to take a return to duty test.

The Return-to-Duty (RTD) Process

As your designated SAP, I perform an initial evaluation and provide you with recommendations for education or treatment. Once you complete the recommended education or treatment program, I meet with you again to determine compliance and establish a follow-up testing plan.

What Does It Cost?

The fee for the RTD SAP service including the two assessments and required paperwork is $525, payable at the time of booking your first assessment.

While this may seem expensive, every day out of duty costs a driver an average of $300. Our program is less than two days of your potential earnings! Investing in yourself by participating in our RTD program demonstrates your commitment to your career and financial well-being.

Don’t let more days slip by; the path back to duty is more affordable than you think!

How Long Does the Process Take?

How long it takes to complete the RTD process depends on each individual case. Simple situations can be resolved in as quickly as four days. More complicated cases may take much longer. After our initial assessment together, we will have a better idea of what your individual timeline will look like.

Can my CDL get downgraded if I don’t resolve a violation in Clearinghouse?

Yes! According to Federal Register Number 2021-21928 as of 11/8/2021 your license is subject to downgrade by the state you are licensed in if you do not resolve your violation. We have heard from several clients that some states are already in compliance with this ruling but all states will are required to participate by 2024.
